Castellaneta Marina, Puglia
Dramatically perched on a spur above its ravine, Castellaneta is located far south of Apulia region approximately 40 km from Taranto. The old town is divided into two quarters, ‘Sacco’ and ‘Muricello’, on either side of the Cathedral of Baroque lines. Rudolph Valentino was born in Castellaneta and a museum exhibits the life of the famous movie star. Stretched along the western coast of the Gulf of Taranto, on the Ionion Sea, is the little town of Castellaneta Marina, a hamlet of Castellaneta. The coastline is characterised by long and large sandy beaches with turquoise and transparent sea. The town has several hotels and restaurants.
