SETTING & STYLE

Castel Monastero sits in one of the most beautiful stretches of Tuscany; the Ombrone Valley, just 23km from Siena.  Surrounded by four hectares of vineyards, chestnut forests and cypress trees, the Resort was originally a medieval village called Monastero d’Ombrone; the records of the village dating back as far as 1050. Now beautifully renovated, this ancient hamlet has become the Castel Monastero; the latest addition to the prestigious Forte Village group of properties. The 74 guestrooms and suites are all decorated in a rustic, yet elegant style. Some are located in the buildings, around the Piazza, whilst others occupy the charmingly renovated houses in the immediate vicinity.  The Castel Monastero Villa occupies 160m2 and has wonderful views over the village.  

RESTAURANTS & BARS

Castel Monastero offers a superb gourmet restaurant “Contrada” , and the Tuscan restaurant “La Cantina”, located in the original XIII century vaulted cellar. Here guests can sample the finest Tuscan wines and the best local specialities.   

RELAX

An excellent Wellness Centre & Spa provides a variety of treatments, including weight loss, detoxifying, aesthetic cures and relaxation techniques.  A tea room offering Tuscan herbal infusions, based on ancient recipes, complements the spa.

The SPA experience is enhanced by the indoor water area, which features a Finnish Sauna, Hammam, sensorial shower with chromo & aroma therapy, and two indoor pools, of which one with an exclusive patent designed by the medical team at Forte Village, featuring water with a high saline concentration, which has draining, revitalizing and muscle relaxant properties.

The Resort has 3 outdoor swimming pools where sun-beds, parasols and pool towels are provided on a complimentary basis. The resort offers a complimentary tennis court and cycle hire (available at local cost).  There is also the opportunity to take trips in hot air balloons and other excursions to the surrounding towns and villages.

   74 Rooms and suites, decorated in rustic, elegant style and located in the buildings around the Piazza or the renovated village houses. All offer: bathroom with bath and/or shower, bathrobes & slippers, hairdryer mini-bar, safe, telephone, desk, free Wi-Fi,  air-conditioning, LCD/satellite TV, video-on-demand.  (i-Pod dock station on request).  Views are of the gardens, antique courtyard or countryside and all room types can be ground or upper floor. 
  
  Superior: King or twin bedroom,. Bathroom with bath & overhead shower or separate shower cubicle. Ideal for two persons. No third bed or cot.
  
  Deluxe: King or twin bedroom.  Bathroom with bath & overhead shower or separate shower cubicle.  Cot possible.  

  Prestige: King or twin bedroom, most with a small, lounge area (open-plan) Third bed or cot available. Bathrooms have a separate bathtub and shower.
  
  Junior Suite: Spacious suite with king or twin beds and a lounge area (open-plan).  Third bed available (one room can accommodate two adults & two children (on a sofa bed).
  
  Junior Suite Piazza: The same as with Junior Suite, but located in buildings around the piazza on the ground or upper floor.  Some have views over the ancient courtyard and some the countryside.
  
  Executive Suite: Spacious suite with king or twin bedroom and lounge separated via a door.  Can accommodate three adults or two adults, one child and one infant.
  
  Royal Suite: King or twin bedroom with lounge separated via a door.  One suite has a private terrace with garden area and another has a small balcony.  Can accommodate two adults, one child and one infant.
