Policoro, Puglia
Policoro is a relatively small town in the southern region of Basilicata. Situated just 4 km inland of the Ionian coast, its population swells in the summertime due to an influx of tourists who come to enjoy the Lido di Policoro. The town is famous for the Museo della Siritide contening a wealth collection of Greek and Roman artefacts that come from the necropolis of Metaponto, Heraclea, Tursi, Aliano, and Latronico. The main town square is Piazza Heraclea where the main church ‘Chiesa Madre’ is located. There are restaurants, nightclubs and bars located on Policoro’s promenade.
