Perched spectacularly on a cliff edge, Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & SPA is a former 17th Century monastery, which has been lovingly renovated and is now a delightful boutique hotel. Overlooking the Bay of Salerno, Monastero Santa Rosa sits in beautiful terraced gardens, fragrant with flowers, shrubs and lemon trees, which gradually descend; culminating in a dramatic cliff-edge infinity pool. The town of Amalfi is 4.5km away and is a fascinating maze of alleyways, squares. shops and cafes.

Particularly suited to couples, the hotel strikes the perfect balance of seclusion without solitude.  The hotel has an intimate atmosphere, yet guests can always find a private spot within the terraced gardens, with their lush landscaping, plentiful lounge chairs and canopied daybeds.  The vaulted ceilings and main structure of the nuns’ rooms and refectory have been preserved and merged with en-suites to create sumptuous bedrooms, which still exude a sense of tranquillity and retreat.

In keeping with the property’s past, many of the vegetables and herbs grown in the hotel gardens are used in the Ristorante “Santa Rosa”, where distinguished Chef Christoph Bob has created innovative Mediterranean cuisine to satisfy the most discerning palate.  Dine al fresco on the terrace, whilst admiring one of the most beautiful views over the Amalfi coast, or in the formal, intimate dining room, with its vaulted ceilings  The wine cellar ranges from local Italian reds to vintage French champagne and fine chardonnays. For lunch, enjoy light Mediterranean fare, al fresco on the pergola-shaded terrace, beside the infinity pool or in the gardens,  Breakfast is served in the comfort of your room, or outside on the pergola terrace.

RELAX

The “Sunset Terrace” is located on the top floor and is the ultimate space to unwind and relax with a drink.  The terrace has individual seating areas with cushioned loungers from which to enjoy the spectacular panorama of the Amalfi Coast. 

The SPA harmoniously blends modern amenities within the original walls of the monastery: its treatment rooms preserving the ancient vaulted ceilings. Awarded “Best Newcomer” in 2012 by Tatler magazine, the SPA offers: thermal rooms, treatments areas, tepidarium with foot spas, steam room, rock sauna with crushed ice fountain, heated hydro-pool and emotional shower.  The magnificent 80sq.m private SPA Suite is a spa within a spa, with Rasul, steam room, wet & dry treatment couches, and manicure/pedicure relaxation lounge (treatments at local cost). An outdoor fitness area offers the latest in techno-gym equipment.  Infinity pools are rarely more stunning than at Monastero Santa Rosa.  Perched right on the cliff edge, the pool appears to merge with the sea, affording spectacular views towards Ravello and Positano.
