HOLIDAYS IN SARDINIA

For pristine beaches, untamed nature and the relaxed Italian culture, there is only one place to head, a holiday in Sardinia. The beaches on this island are unparalleled, looking more Caribbean than Mediterranean, but these coupled with the effortless Italian chic make this island irresistible.

Whether you are looking to spend your holiday to Sardinia sipping cappuccinos on the streets of Porto Cervo or exploring the beaches around the Chia Laguna, Sardatur has expert advice and local knowledge to make your holiday to Sardinia perfect. While ancient ruins and white washed hill towns make perfect day trips for a family holiday, secluded coves that can only be reached by boat allow couples a wonderful escape.

This is not all, this Mediterranean island is also scattered with rugged mountains, forests and rivers to explore at your own pace as the interior of the island leans towards wilderness while Sardinia is also home to three golf courses of International reputation if that is what you would prefer to do on your holiday to Sardinia.

Sardinia is also a place where you will never go hungry. With an Italian standard of cuisine, the Spanish and Arabic influences ensure that Sardinian food is delicious though not what one would expect from traditional Italian fare.

Explore Sardinia

Very few places are as magnificently unspoilt and undiscovered as this enormous island; the second largest in the Mediterranean, with a history dating back 5,000 years. Largely untouched by mass tourism, you can still escape to the interior, explore mysterious ruins, or ride narrow gauge trains into the mountains. The coastline is one of endless variety: secluded rocky coves, soft, white sandy beaches, lonely wild beaches and towering cliffs.

And there is the Sardinian cuisine which is traditional, local and delicious. Popular specialities include: roast suckling pig, excellent seafood dishes and local Sardinian wines, such as Vermentino, Nuragus, Cannonau and Monica. Mirto is Sardinia’s after dinner liqueur, which is made from the leaves of the myrtle plant.

Sardinia is also home to three spectacular golf courses of international reputation. Pevero Golf Course in Costa Smeralda, a 18 hole (par-72) golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones located between the bays of Cala di Volpe and Golfo Di Pevero. Is Molas Golf Club near Pula, on the south east coast, a 27-hole (par-72) golf course enjoys a prime location just 10 minutes drive from the Forte Village Resort. Is Arenas Golf Club located north of Oristano, a 18-hole (par-72) golf course. Designed by Von Hagge set beautifully amongst the pine forest and lush vegetation, it has been named by golf magazines as one of the 20 best golf courses in Europe.
