SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT: HOTEL SU GOLOGONE

Hotel Su Gologone, Oliena
As recommended on The Guardian Readers travel tips:

“This is an amazing hotel. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon touring Sardinia a couple of years ago and it was our favourite location. The rooms are quirky and individual, the views of the mountains are stunning and the food is just incredible. We went half-board and struggled to finish the four-course dinners. Tip: don’t be tempted to gorge on the antipasti or pasta courses or you’ll never finish the suckling pig – the hotel speciality which is famous across the island. If you’re a foodie, this place is a must.”

The hotel is set in its own extensive gardens, full of flowers and surrounded by oak, olive and juniper trees; all contrasting beautifully against the limestone colours of Monte Corrasi in the distance. Originally a restaurant, Su Gologone is well known throughout the island for its excellent cuisine, focusing on traditional Sardinian specialities. There is a piano bar and occasionally traditional singers and folk dancers.

Furnished throughout in Sardinian style, no two rooms are alike in their delightful colour combinations. Guests interested in arts & crafts will love Su Gologone’s “Art Shops”. Created and designed by owner Giovanna Palimodde, the brand consists of beautiful, hand-made furnishings and crafts, including woven shawls, embroidered tablecloths, tapestries, cushions, wrought iron object, ceramics, jewellery and paintings. Guests can learn new skills, as the shops offer various courses including embroidery, painting & drawing, mosaics and origami (at local cost).

Su Gologone is the perfect setting for guests wishing to explore the island’s interior.

I was delighted to receive this newsletter from the Su Gologone in Sardinia today telling us exactly what our guests can experience when coming to this delightful little hotel.

Activities range from: Yoga, an open air cinema, a bakery, excursions to Cala Luna beach, (one of the island’s most famous beaches), astronomy lessons, necklace making sessions, wine and cheese tasting and folk band concerts.
