BALL DOGE PLATINUM XXI EDITION
....because Dreaming is an Art...

Saturday 1st March 2014
Venue: Palazzo Pisani Moretta
Gala Dinner & Entertainment

Il Ballo del Doge reminds the guests, perhaps in an unconscious way, the affirmation by Shakespeare “we are made
of the same stuff that dreams are made of”, an affirmation that each one leaves to echo in one’s own heart, because Il Ballo del Doge is not a dream, it is the dream! And so, it is for this that the XXI edition of Il Ballo del Doge is dedicated to the Art of the Dream and to all those that have of their Dream their Art, “…because Dreaming is an Art” and it will be held in Palazzo Pisani Moretta Saturday 1st March 2014. The Dream will in fact be the fil rouge of this edition: “Desire, Obsession, Transgression”, because in the Dream all is possible, all is licit just like in the fantastic Shakespearian Dream, midsummer night’s Dream or in the surreal Venetian atmosphere of the memorable Casanova by Federico Fellini or in the obsessive Dreams of Eyes Wide Shut di Kubrick. Different each year from the previous one, abstract and poetic, Il Ballo del Doge touches all the chords of the artistic sentiment that Antonia Sautter has always cultivated and that constantly keeps her occupied in order to accomplish it.
For one evening Guests will live together the Dream of a lifetime and a lifetime of Dreams…

One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of West and South Asian stories and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. It is often known in English as the Arabian Nights, from the first English language edition (1706). What is common throughout all the editions of the Nights is the initial frame story of the ruler Shahryar and the young Scheherazade. The influence of the versions of The Nights on world literature is immense. Various characters from this epic have themselves become cultural icons in Western culture, such as Aladdin, Sinbad and Ali Baba. Several elements from Arabian mythology and Persian mythology are now common in modern fantasy, such as genies, bahamuts, magic carpets, and magic lamps.
