The Hotel Luna Convento occupies a delightful position, overlooking the bay of Amalfi. In addition to its wonderful location and stunning sea views, the building is of undisputed historical and architectural interest.
As the name of the hotel suggests, the building was originally a convent and the perimeter of the picturesque cloister was once lined by nun’s cells. These cells have now been transformed into unique guest rooms, and the cloisters now enclose a charming courtyard garden. The cloister, at the heart of the building, was founded by St Francis of Assisi in 1222. The small private chapel, founded at the same time, is still used for intimate wedding ceremonies. A later addition to the building, a watch tower built in the 1500's, looks out over the Bay of Amalfi which was often the victim of pirate attacks.
The Luna Convento has a seawater swimming and sun terraces, located right on the cliff edge, with wonderful views over the Amalfi coastline.
The hotel has two restaurants, the Restaurant ‘Luna’ and restaurant ‘Torre Saracena’, each serving excellent Mediterranean cuisine and the finest local specialties. A piano bar faces out onto the wide panoramic terrace'''
The hotel is a delight, with its whitewashed walls, vaulted ceilings and long corridors. A unique hotel in a wonderful setting.
